The National Black MBA® Association was created in 1970 to help African-Americans coming into the corporate sector, largely for the first time, share experiences and insights to help make the journey easier. We serve over 1,000 local members in the Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to create educational, wealth building, and growth opportunities for Black professionals through programming across 3 pillars:
- Education and Career Exploration: Programs that increase the acceptance rates of our members in undergraduate and graduate programs, and provide career opportunities/placements.
- Leadership and Professional Development: Programs that help our members acquire the necessary skills and opportunities for career advancement.
- Economic Prosperity: Programs that help our members gain financial knowledge, improve credit, and access capital.
OUR NEEDS
Our goal is to raise $10,000 to support two of our primary initiatives committed to the academic achievement of Black youth – Leaders of Tomorrow (LOT) and our Excel Scholarship.
- LOT is a mentoring program for Black students in high school to help them develop professional skills and gain admission to college. We’ve served over 8,000 students nationally since the program’s inception.
- Each year we invest $25,0000 so that 50 local students can participate at no cost in an 8-month program that covers financial literacy, entrepreneurship, leadership, time management, online presence, and business etiquette.
- Students also participate in a case competition.
- To support the next generation, we provide scholarships to 8-10 students annually to help them pay for college. In 2021, we awarded $16,000 in scholarships to graduating high school seniors, undergraduate, and graduate students. In 2022, we are awarding $18,800 in scholarships.
